Aloha again, folks! Little late on the journal front, but it's Dylan or TheDarkOfNight-D here with a new journal!

Yes, I know I've been a bit late on my biweekly journal, but hear me out: I've been quite busy whipping up a few things for you guys as you may have seen! What they were, I'll get to in a bit, but as for this journal, let's get on with some good stuff! Haisai, let's go!

//-+ NEWS +-\\

Welcome to a winter wonder... wait, I'm a summer lover. Hah, but you get the drift! Winter's hit full effect in my rural area here, and while I'm not a fan of winter, I can say we've been doing swell this winter. Work's also been fine, thank you! This is also the first journal in a while where I don't have to say anything... well, about any stupid glitch or e-mail swap or something. SO, YAY! I think it's also worth it to mention it is almost a week 'til Christmas, so if I don't make a journal 'til following, I'd like to wish every one of my friends, family, followers, watchers and ohana a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and moreso, Happy Holidays. Only the best for this season, all!

So, if you guys are asking me; how's life at 21? Well, nothing's really changed too much! For the uninitiated, two Sundays past (on December 8th) was my birthday and as such; the whole day went incredible. First off, to start off the midnight hour; my good buddies from the Hearts' Ohana entourage (including dlrpmad, silverstar-alchemist, mizuglace1020, KingPengvien, so forth) wishing me a "happy birthday" in song and in signs... seriously, you guys brought a tear to my eye, that was so good. Of course, the rest of the day was progressed by pizza, friends over and even a visit from my girlfriend Anime-jazumin and her bro. To which, to EVERYONE who wished me a happy one, be it via Twitter or deviantART or Facebook or wherever, I thank you all; being 21 actually feels fantastic, and I have all your care to thank! As for birthday haul, I didn't get all too much this year, what with my folks helping pay for part of my PS4, but I did get a few things. First off, I got Jim Henson's underrated classic "The Dark Crystal" on DVD, which is actually a pretty good film if you're asking! Second, a nice EB Games / Gamestop card from my Gram. May just use it on a used game or some new "Disney Infinity" goods when they come! Following that up, that also came with a PlayStation Plus 3-month card, to which I haven't activated just yet. Maybe soon! What came from the girlfriend though? Well, she lucked out and got me a Donald/Daisy Duck comic aptly called "Tunnel Of Love", a CED Disc version of Disney pirate romp "Kidnapped", and to finish my Stitch film collection off, "Leroy and Stitch"! FINALLY! No more Leroy prowling (unless it's in plushie form)! However, the last big thing I ended up getting was from the folks; who surprised me with two "Disney Infinity" figures, Vanellope Von Schweetz and Rapunzel. Needless to say, in the "Infinity" game, Vanellope's become a favorite merely due to glitch-speeding. Otherwise, not too much really sufficed beyond good people and good times. And I thank you all humbly for that. So, again, thanks guys. The only thing I'm left wondering birthday-wise was just what justsomenut626 was planning... since he said he'd be late with something for that time. Hmm... oh well, #PatienceIago! For now, thanks everyone for your love and support and let's make my 21st year alive one to remember! <3

But... aside from those birthday surprises and love; something finally happened. Guess what came in?

...Those Instagram links say it all. My "Stitch!" and "Fireball" boxsets FINALLY arrived! Feels so AWESOME to own a series I swoon over like "Stitch!" itself. That and it makes me that much closer to owning the entire Stitch franchise, as I have the four films and the both arcs of "Stitch!" itself now (Note: to those asking if I'm getting "Zutto" boxes, that is a no, thanks, you all have probably heard me preach 'til the cows come home why). What's cool from this was one, that ad with Stitch and Yuna I found in one of the boxsets, and two; the boxes, BOTH arcs actually have interconnecting imagery. The first arc has Stitch and Angel on the connected points, and the second arc actually has an awesome connected point of Stitch and Yuna pinky-swearing with one another. It's really quite cute, and it's an honor to finally own the whole series! However, with the knowing that these are safe at home, there's still a lot of stuff on the incoming. Like as of recent, I ordered a "Saving Mr. Banks" poster from North America's Disney Movie Rewards page. And also I have "FLCL", the "Iron Man" anime, "Eden of the East: The King of Eden", and "Bionicle: Mask of Light" heading my way to complete some of my collections off. There's also my family's holiday lights, which by now... has hit well over 6 weeks since ordering. Huh... dunno if customs got to it or who knows? Finally though, shipped last week was a slew of Hearts' Ohana Christmas gifts in a care package from a good friend, dlrpmad. They have yet to arrive (in fact as I type this, I recently got another package notice coming in tomorrow, so it could be this), but once they do, I'm probably gonna be amazed at the treasure trove of things he may have sent my way! Here's to hoping they come ASAP! Otherwise, it's all up in the air: so, keep an eye on my Instagram (again, username's thedarkofnight_d) and hopefully things should suffice soon!

So, in other news; there was a huge amount of hype circulating over one of my favorite music groups recently. If anyone's ever heard of The Glitch Mob, a lot of mystery surrounded their new album they've been hard at work on for the last year or so. However, as of recent; the date 12/17/13 popped up, and now that it's passed, they've revealed JUST where all that work and mystery went. Coming fresh off the heals off their 2010 breakthrough "Drink The Sea", they announced in February, February 11 in fact, that they will finally release their second album in 2014: aptly titled "Love Death Immortality". With this announcement, there also came a new single, but I'll be on about that single soon... let's just say it's ONE of two "TUNE" features this week! Within one day, by the way; it hit #1 in Electronic pre-orders on iTunes... hyped? VERY. Can't wait for this, I swear I've worn out my digital of "Drink The Sea" over and over again waiting for new material!!

Outside of music though; I have seen a film recently that may take some good talking about! While with Anime-jazumin, me and her went and saw "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug", following behind last year's viewing of "An Unexpected Journey". Quite in my lane of LOTR viewings, Smaug delivered in a lot of aspects, a great story, impressive visuals and a fantastic score, all toppling over the previous film's reputation. The only downside I found of this was a few finicky camera decisions (one of which involves a river scene... all I'm saying), but otherwise, it stands tall. Also, Benedict Cumberbatch as the dreaded Smaug? STEALS the SHOW. Really incredible performance, couldn't even tell it was Cumberbatch! Nonetheless, Smaug took everything that the original LOTR formula delivered with the first "The Hobbit" film and railed it up to new heights. And... yes, it ended off with a darned cliffhanger that's gonna lead to "There and Back Again" next year. I'd highly recommend seeing it if you're into the other LOTR ventures, and of course, following that of Mr. Jackson's "The Hobbit" trek. It's also worth mentioning that this week sees the release of a Disney staple that I really must see soon as a bigwig Disney zealot, the "Mary Poppins"-inspired "Saving Mr. Banks". Don't know if I'll be seeing this opening week, but I'm hoping to soon, and as always; do expect my opinions on the film following once I do!

So, with that buncha stuff dropped, here's some art and story news for you guys upcoming!

//-+ ART/STORIES +-\\

So, you may have noticed just yesterday that I uploaded three gifts for you lot just for following my many treks of art and story work within the year:

STCHTRVRSE - Yuna and Stitch Wallpaper by TheDarkOfNight-D  STCHTRVRSE - Kyo and Stitch Wallpaper by TheDarkOfNight-D STCHTRVRSE - Yai and Kyohaku Stitch Wallpaper by TheDarkOfNight-D
"Stitch Triverse" wallpapers, each featuring a different pair of characters. There was three I uploaded, one with Yuna and Stitch (of "Stitch!" lore), one with Kyozuki and Stitch (of "A STITCH In Reality" lore), and one with Yaiko and Kyohaku Stitch (of "Stitch to the Cosmos" lore). However, of note; the Yai and Kyohaku one features a big revelation to Yai's character, that she's royalty in her 'verse (a Royal: "Princess of the Axis", by Cosmos arc terms). With this in mind, I've also updated the "Stitch Triverse" comparison sheet to reflect this new development. In accordance with my last journal splitting artwork, I've decided that my next plan of attack since these wallpapers are up for the holidays are a few character designs followed up by finally finishing that collab I had with Stitch-And-Yuna-Pics {Rizu}. Then we'll go from there. All of this should be ongoing from now 'til perhaps the new year's start. More the latter.

As for everything else: story news is at a nada, refer to my 11/07/2013 journal if you're curious on where writing's heading once I do actually start. Moreso, the focus is on artwork at the moment.

Nonetheless, with these gifts in mind, let's check into our "TUNE" section, all!

//-+ TUNE +-\\

OR SHOULD I SAY "TUNES"!? ...Yes, this week features two featured tracks! So let's start with the first!

First one's from someone you might not have heard of unless you're an 80's head. The first of this week's "TUNE" comes from America's little-known 80s synth twiddler, Lazerhawk. There's a chance I'm hearing crickets. Lazerhawk is an artist from the 80s-influenced genre of "synthwave". With this, music is inspired by the soundtracks and synths of the 80s eventide. Recently, his music's gotten the exposure of Cartoon Network's Toonami block, as his track "King of the Streets" was featured through an ad for upcoming BONES (well-known for "Fullmetal Alchemist" and "Soul Eater") anime "Space Dandy". With this in mind, this week's first "TUNE" takes from the same album that one track came from: Skull and Shark, the track "Fight to the Top". Like explained, the track features 80s synth-work mixed in with a very glam metal-influenced essence, making for something that fits awesomely to this day, but also feels right at home almost 30 years ago too. Give Lazerhawk a good listen, he's got some skill here. Enjoy!

Lazerhawk - "Fight to the Top"

However, the second one, you should know. In fact, we talked about them this journal! The LA-based electronic kingpins known as The Glitch Mob. With the coming of their inevitable second album, I've been revisiting their first album Drink the Sea and some favorites there: like "Fistful of Silence", "Animus Vox", and their big hit "Drive It Like You Stole It", and of course; their remixes of Daft Punk's "Derezzed", The Prodigy's "Breathe" and so forth... that was until today. With the announcement of their coming second album Love Death Immortality, seems that the members Ooah, edIT and Boreta felt generous. They gave us a first single, coming with pre-orders of the new album forthcoming in February. This new single is our second "TUNE", named "Can't Kill Us". This revisits the group's powerful bass and distortion methods, and makes a POWERFUL return for a group whose only recent material was an EP. Driving, pumping, and blaring with energy, this new The Glitch Mob tune aims to please; and aims for an INCREDIBLE second album. Bring it, Mobsters. Enjoy this one too!

The Glitch Mob - "Can't Kill Us"

So, all done for this week; and expect the next journal... well, if I delivered one now, it would be by New Year's. No worries though, I wish everyone a happy Christmas coming next week, and hope that all my friends, family and ohana have a safe and happy set of holidays! Later, guys; and Ichariba Ohana!

Amazing how underrated "Dark Crystal" is. Seriously, first time I watched it, I was pretty enthralled in the plot. Plus, it's like with "John Carter", I want a Fizzgig. LOL!

Of course! :D

Well, hopefully you're able to get that out, dude! Second film release is as good a time as any!

For sure! I would've gotten it out last year but I couldn't release mt fan made trailer cuz I didn't know the right music......I still don't....but I have everything prepared.....Plus I haven't even started coloring the poster yet.....uggggh this is going to be tricky.

Isn't it though? I think it was one of the first non-Muppet Henson related project I saw. I was amazed at the visual style. So glad someone out there still appreciates it.

Well, hopefully it all works out, careful choosings, careful choosings! :)

Yeah; it's totally underrated. Really shouldn't be though, it's got a FANTASTIC concept, really. I know a few people who really appreciate "Dark Crystal", and it's nice knowing we're among! :D

Thanks! Mickey's a new favorite of mine, all that magic's a pretty powerful offensive!

I actually don't have Ralph yet... I have Vanellope and Rapunzel as of my B-Day, but not Ralph. Hopefully after Christmas I'll try my best to get the big guy! :)

Wait until he gets up past level 7, it's AMAZING what he can do with his magic burst attack.

Ah yes. What about Buzz and Jessie?

Buzz and Jessie I don't either: but my folks have hinted that they did see one set of them... Hmm... MAYBE SOON THEN. :)

Good going on The Dark Crystal; grew up with that one and the Neverending Story, both awesome. Strange that Dark Crystal is as obscure as it is, given the relative fame of Jim Henson's other works.

Happy early Christmas right back at you.
