Aloha there guys, Dylan or TheDarkOfNight-D here with a journal update!

=============================================================================================
NEWS FROM THE LIFE OF D (Dil):

So, what's up folks?

Well, January's almost over, and I'd say this month has gone over pretty eventless, yet very enjoyable. I've been getting more into some sociality uppings, what with being on Google+ (to which, ask if you wanna know mine) often, if you could call it that. Winter also seems to be around to no end, with the cold taking over here via temperature blasts and even what could be occasional freezing rain. Otherwise, no updates on work or anything of the sort, but it's at least been passed by without boredom and without a dull moment at least. So, it's been good; now let's move into news!

2013 is looking to be a BIG year in music, with TWO of my favorite acts confirming albums and/or releases this year. First of all, if you haven't picked up, according to the France newspaper, Le Parisien, Daft Punk, the French housemeisters who rocked our eardrums for years; are about to make a comeback with a brand new fourth album this Spring. With this new album, the duo have also signed to Sony's Columbia Records label for this occasion. For those who know how powerful Daft Punk are, the announcement of this new album is a dream come true, and one of the major highlights of this year, if not anything. The only thing known about the album is that they collaborated with Nile Rodgers, a known disco part of the band CHIC. Otherwise, it's all shrouded in mystery, like the artists want. On the other side of things, with another artist, Sonny Moore confirmed in a performance in Montreal that his a new Skrillex record should be ready for the summer of this year, leaving another big artist planning a release of some kind ready for the year. So, between Daft Punk's return, a Skrillex release, and probably a handful of other albums and releases... again, 2013. Gonna be big. Keep 'er set, guys.

So, if you haven't learnt the big news a few days ago, Disney Interactive Studios have revealed their call and answer to the gaming industry, with a game that fuses the interactivity of "Skylanders" with the creativity and open-worlded mind of "LittleBigPlanet". The game is called "Disney Infinity", a game that allows people to play as Disney favorites such as Mr. Incredible, Wreck-It Ralph, Jack Sparrow, or even Sulley in their own respective worlds, and also create other original worlds on your own; all while relying on World Packs, Power Discs, and figures of characters that link to the game (and, to probably quote commercials, each sold separately). The possibility of more characters and Power Discs seem to be endless, and the game is currently set for a release this June. Now, if you ask me, I LOVE this idea. The style of the game and the characters being chosen across all boards of Disney lore are already visually appealing as they are promising, and with Avalanche Software, the developers behind the "Toy Story 3" game developing it, there's a chance this game could turn out impressive. As stated, the game doesn't release until June on the Wii, WiiU, XBOX 360, PS3, 3DS, PC, and also on a mobile system too; and I'm probably thinking of looking into the game once it releases, and probably picking up favorite characters and Discs as they go along. "Suit up" ain't got nothing on this. Solid.

Now, while visiting my girlfriend recently, I was able to get in touch with my Studio Ghibli side, as I finally watched the film "Tales from Earthsea", the debut of Goro Miyazaki, Hayao's esteemed son. And what did I think? ...Well, it's definitely not one of the studio's strongest, but it's still great. Contradictory? Lemme explain. The entirety of the movie is adapted from a multi-book series, and the approach the studio put into it is indeed good, but also lacking in some of the plot. While watching the film's plot unfold, sometimes it'll end up getting lost or crossed up in the details. Now, with the plot, the plot revolves around Arren, a young prince who is stuck in a low point, as Sparrowhawk, the powerful Arc Mage of the land finds him and tries to lead him in the right path while trying to fend off the opposing kingdom and their forces, and of course, meeting a young girl named Therru. The film is a juggling of self-discovery, the forces of good and evil, and of course, other staples of the Ghibli name. The animation, as always; is beautiful, nothing better or worse from the great studio, and with plot, characters and animation in mind; it definitely shines. However, with the knowing that the plot is juggled about in it's adapted form, it isn't as big or whole as one would get from one of the higher Ghibli films, like "Spirited Away" or even "Ponyo". In other words, I'd recommend it, but don't expect something huge or amazing from this film. In addition, my girlfriend also lent me "The Secret World of Arrietty", another Ghibli film I still have to see, but have heard AMAZING things from, and once I do, I will be giving my feedback next journal. I also am hoping to pick up a copy of the PS3 Ghibli project "Ni No Kuni" as that is now released, and looks absolutely fantastic, so those thoughts'll be coming along too. Keep that in mind, my fellow friends!

Next, well; if you've been living under a rock, you've heard the news that Episode VII of "Star Wars" is going to be manned and directed by JJ Abrams, the sci-fi master that he is. My thoughts? At first, I was really mixed on it, with the idea of him helming both "Star Wars" AND 'Star Trek", it felt like he was taking sci-fi over bit by bit. However, after a second thought, I do think with his mastery in visionary and plots, he'd be able to nail down a solid seventh film come 2015 when the film releases. Yes, that's a long way down the road; yes we'll be hearing a lot more about it as it comes, but for now, I'd say the news of JJ Abrams taking direction has either split people between joy and praise or complete dislike. I'm nowhere near disliking the decision, his previous works of "Star Trek" and "Super 8" were incredible films, so with him helming Episode VII, I'm hoping for only the best being done. Fingers crossed. Anyways, onward, before the Force gets me thinking of the decision too much.

So, as I've learnt from *Shadypenpen, the dub to new and upcoming Digimon series, "Digimon Fusion", Saban's return to dubbing the series that kicked them off (besides "Power Rangers") has hit Malaysia's Disney XD. Now, with that in mind, I've been thinking of potential places for the new digital monster series to go, and what could also follow. Canada has both YTV and Disney XD that the series could premiere on, with the possibility of the latter also picking up some other anime to try and make a block out of it (like "Stitch!" or "Naruto Shippuden", for example; since Canada hasn't had EITHER). Though on another side, YTV, the Canadian equivalent of Nickelodeon has aired ALL of the series up to Frontier, while Data Squad's aired on Family Channel at the ungodly time of morning 6am timeslots... and that also leaves Disney XD being kinda a catalyst for that possibility due to Data Squad's airing. Call it rambling, but with "Digimon Fusion" on the uprising this year for a station near us, there's some thoughts one could conjure for airing and for the process. Needless to say I'm excited; the monster series was a childhood classic, and to return to watching something of that nature is actually something I'm looking forward to. Xros it up. Anyways, rambling for the dub here, just wanted to get out that there's a chance it could come on both channels in our country... IF it comes over here, unlike other shows.

As well, is anyone looking for PSN IDs? If so and you're wondering about mine, mine's NeonYuna626. So, if you wanna, go right ahead and add me. Anyone with a Wii or 3DS who also wants to play me, just ask.

Anyways, I'll be back next time for more news to strife on next journal. Now onto other matters!

"SONGS OF THE MOMENT" SECTION:

This week's "Song of the Moment" is a track off of the new EP that a familiar artist has released, and thus, let's dive into the heavy feels:

Flux Pavilion is a name that should ring some electronics well. Joshua Steele, a name prominent in the UK, is one of the more glitchy and prominent names in dubstep. And to this day, this has rung true, especially with today's new release of "Blow The Roof", his EP out now on Big Beat Records. However, out of the eight tracks on the EP, one collaboration from this has shined out to me, and it's not the hard-edge one with P Money and Sway, though I do love that as well as most of the EP. No, it's the track featuring uprising rapper Childish Gambino, also known as one of the original writers of 30 Rock, Donald Glover. The track that Joshua and Donald have made is called "Do or Die". The track is a more hip-hop influenced track, with a pounding beat and a spiel of raps from Donald himself, which are actually pretty fitting for the track itself. And Donald has a habit of rhyming things that actually aren't typical for most rappers of our age. Something of a power for 'Bino. However, the track also takes from Joshua's glitched up dub style by slamming us with dubstep beats twice in the song, coming in after Donald's rhymes are through. From a usual track from Flux Pavilion, this definitely keeps some freshness to it. But with a lot of the other influences, it's also incredibly different, and while all of the EP brandishes into different sounds, this track here definitely keeps flair and hip-hop flavor while crossing the bridge between rap and dubstep. "Shout out to those who waited".

ART / STORY NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:

So, art and such... news time. OKAY! So, for those who actually were concerned with my story "Stitch! ~ Crossed Timelines", I'm 2 pages into the new part of the story, Part 2; and from here on in, after some PhotoShop dabbling, I'm gonna be continuing writing on the new Crossed part. So expect that to be out and about soon. Otherwise, I can't say there's much that really got completed, I've been hoping to continue writing "Squid Stitched" soon with *Son-Void (IF he hasn't already gotten the sixth part in process), and otherwise, nothing's also arisen in terms of that collaboration business I was hoping to pursue with a heroine collab at the :icondisney-club:. Or at least, not yet anywho. HOWEVER, there's still a wave of new stuff I may as well feature; not as many as last time, but still a few I could at least make a habit for.

First is a pair of commissions that a good buddy, ~BlueIke has done up for a good few buck deal. As always, featuring my main Disney runners, Stitch and Yuna; the two pictures are a simple yet contrasting comparison of the two delivering some karate chucking and on some summer outage. Check 'em here:

The other's not exactly request or commission, but done from a close buddy ~xXIttlesXx. Back in the day where she made the very popular gift for me (featuring, duh; Yuna and Stitch); we were discussing how the process was being done, and she brought up the idea of a new bathing suit for Yuna, or an original one, before I decided to stick to originals. However, that idea suddenly became realized here with a drawing here that showcases JUST what she wanted. A new suit, and of course; a rather intriguing "hair down" kinda hairstyle. Definitely unlike the character, but a definite yet fresh take anyways. Anyways, check 'er out here:

Otherwise, like I said earlier, expect the new part of "Stitch! ~ Crossed Timelines" to be out within the coming week or so. Dependent on when it's being written. And also expect my original "AQUOS" story to be continuing soon too, probably after the new part of the Stitch! story is released.

As you guys also obviously know, I've got collabs I'm doing as well, mainly just writing ones at the moment. Some are huge projects of mine like "TREASEARY" or that of my "Lion King" stories; while others I did specifically as collaborative efforts with others. Hit up my Side Projects in my Writing Schedule and you'll see them. So, anytime you guys wanna try and write a collab together, note me or contact me with an idea and maybe we can try it out? Or perhaps you can hit me up for an RP sometime too; I do those as well.

If anyone's interested, I have also made a Yuna reference sheet out of screencaps and all, showcasing several of her attires in the Stitch! series (first series [Season 1 + Season 2] only). Whoever wants it, go ahead and note or comment me and I'll be happy to provide it for you.

And as always, I would love for more to join in with some help for art, musical scores, or what have you; anything you have would be great and a big help to any of the projects I have lined up!

Hmmm, yes this month wasn't that eventful. At least I sticked to my intentions for this year. Firstly getting better in school by being more active in lessosn and sercondly working more on my OVER 9000!!!! projects.
...okay, not exactly 9000, but you get my point. Let's see how my grades are like. I'll get them this Friday.

Well, the plot being smaller in the film is quite understandable. Especially when it's the plot of multiple books. It is WAY too much to put it into one single film, as seen in the Harry Potter series or other film adaptions. It's quite hard to get all the details into a single film, so sometimes there has to be something striken out. And as long as they don't strike out important things, it's okay in my opinion. ^_^

(HA! I'm still alive, y' know. =P )

Well, that's an honest to goodness. Here's hoping for some good grades there! :)

Try a 10-11 book series. That's hard to try and cram into a two hour long anime film, if you ask me. :)

(YAY. Glad you're alive.)

Indeed. So far the grades were quite good or at least okay. ^_^

I can imagine. Reading a 760 pages long roman took me 2 weeks of reading and if you put that into a movie, you would have to cut out several scenes. Like I said, it is understandable that they had to strike out things, so the plot as a whole could fit into a single film.

I'm sorry I'm keeping you waiting, dude. I am not looking forward to piecing together this next part of the chapter. ^^;

That, plus I'm feeling kinda sour right now, considering my laptop just had another whitescreen this morning. :X My buddy ~johnluke728 said on Skype that I should probably replace it. Of course, this unfortunately means losing the progress I made on Squid Stitched...

As I've read earlier; I'm really sorry dude. I can keep waiting in the event that you have to get a new laptop, on the grounds that we still have the notes laying around for Part 6 anyways. :)

Also, nice new Umbreon av. SHINY UMBS FTW. ;)

Well yeah, we do have our notes. I could always come back to those. :D

My favorite's pretty much been Smeargle or Lucario. Both just have this essence that I LOVE. :)

Yeah, see? So in the even that progress is lost, there's still our notes on here. Those aren't going anywhere. ;)

As for the other stuff though, I'm not entirely sure. I just might have to kiss Underwater Bench goodbye (unless =haoLink still has the fishtank). ^^;

You'll either have to compensate it or see if other people have stuff laying around. Best to ask now, just before you move with the decision of getting a new laptop. :)
